In the downstairs bathroom, the one my sisters and I shared growing up, there's a wall with wall paper that has several different quotes on it. One goes something like this, "A true friend is someone who knows all about you...and still likes you." Well I've been thinking a lot about my friends lately. Some that I've had since I was a kid, others that I've just met since living here. But either way, I've been blessed with some amazing friends! Sometimes I get just as homesick for old friends as I do for my family.
We've also been really lucky to have made some great friends here. In fact, I just got off the phone with a friend who wanted to make sure we're doing ok because Brad wasn't at YM last night. They knew we've been having some car trouble and wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with it. We try to make it a point to get together at least once a month with a group of friends. We've had some great times too.
I'm also really thankful for unlikely friends. For some reason I've been thinking a lot about a friend of mine, Marissa. We sat next to each other on the plane from Chicago to Germany and were pretty much inseparable the whole time we were in Ukraine. We are SO different, sometimes I'm amazed we were such good friends. But the girl has taught me so much, and I honestly consider her to be one of my dearest friends.
But isn't that the beauty about friends? You can be so different but so a like at the same time! I'm so thankful for my wonderful friends, old and new! My life has been richly blessed because of them.
(I'm having issues uploading pictures and my patience has run out. Does anyone else have issues uploading pictures to blogger sometimes?)
