Over the summer when Brad had to drive up to Utah for tech week at Tuacahn he took our only car and I needed a way to get to work and school. Our ward took care of us, one guy let me borrow his car for a week, and he drove his daughters car. Another family let me borrow their car for another week when Brad went back to Utah for tech week at the Neil Simon Festival.
We've had several people invite us over to their homes for Holidays because they know we're away from family.
My visiting teacher was my math tutor and thanks to her I made it through, and even liked it a tiny bit!
When our car died a couple of weeks ago a ward member, in fact, a brand new ward member himself, fixed our car for $100 dollars when Brad said it would've cost us upwards of $800-1,000.00 at a shop.
Another ward member took us to a Salvadorian restaurant because she wanted to show us her culture. She told us all about what it was like growing up in El Salvador while we ate some delicious food. I think she ordered half the menu so we could try everything!
Several people come to support Brad and see shows that he's designed.
I could go on and on about all the wonderful people and how they've blessed our lives. We have a very diverse, but very small ward. There are several different cultures and languages spoken but we are very tight-knit. Brad and I have felt right at home since the day we moved in. We've made new friends, young and old, that we'll always remember and have fond memories of and I've learned so much from so many people who have just really taken us in.
I'm so thankful to have the support of a ward family when my family can't be here with me all the time.
(This is a picture of my Sunday School class. Well, we're missing 3 boys and a girl and two of them in the picture were visiting, but you get the idea. I teach the 14-18 year olds and they're such good kids...most of the time. But I love them and I'm thankful for them!)
Oh, it's so true! The Lord blesses our lives with the people who come into it. Thanks for sharing.
