Let Freedom Ring

Did you know that Independence Day is one of my most favorite holidays? I love the meaning, I love the fireworks, I love the barbeque's, I love the warm summer night, I just love everything! This year I was planning on throwing myself a little pity party because not only did Brad have to work that night (and sleep during the day so he could work through the night)but ALL of my siblings were going to be at my parents house in Utah. Not me. My niece and nephew were there together for the first time. Not me. My cousin, who recently returned from a mission in Spain was there. Not me. All the grand puppies were there. Not me. They would be watching parades (and being in their own parades) and watching fireworks and eating homemade ice cream. Not. Me.

Poor me. Right?

Then, my friend Amanda invited us to a party that her grandparents were having. She must have known I needed it.

There was barbecuing.

There were puppies.

There was ice cream.

There was patriotism.

Plus there was dancing, Foosball, ping pong, slot car racing, and magic shows!

One of my favorite things about the party was that Amanda's grandpa reminded us all about why we were celebrating. He lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance and played the National Anthem.

Thanks Jared and Amanda for inviting us!

  1. That's an awesome party! You guys are so great and always look for the positive even though it's hard being away from family. We love you and hope to see you sooner than later :)

  3. Feeling like the only ones left out from family fun is the worst! I had many a pity party in monterey. But WOW - that party looks seriously cool. I mean, a statue of liberty and an ice cream cart? That's what I call a good independence day!
