Plus One

One interesting this about being in this stage of life that Brad and I find ourselves in is that everything we say can be interpreted as "We're having a baby!"

Me: I have been craving waffles like nobody's business.
My friend, eyeing me suspiciously: Oh really? Anything you want to tell me?

Seriously? A girl can't crave waffles at all hours of the day for no reason in particular? I happen to love a good waffle, is that such a crime? (Side note: I went to my first Chicken 'N Waffle House in LA a couple of weeks ago, SO good! Now I understand why people like it...so what if I was the only white person in the place.)

Or

Me: Seriously, I am just so tired all the time these days!
Different friend: Really? Are you sure your not pregnant?

Pretty sure! But the fact that I go to school full time, work part time, have a very involved church calling and a slight addiction to pinning late into the night might have something to do with the sleepiness.

But to be honest, I don't mind that much - it really is so fun when your friends have babies! Anyway, I guess what I'm getting at is that THIS time we actually are adding to our family!!

We are proud to announce that we have adopted the sweetest DOG to ever roam the earth!

{Did I fool you? Please tell me I fooled you, for at least one small moment. Believe me, I'm as sick of the "I'm Pregnant" April Fool's joke as you are, but admit it, this was good, right?}

But really, we adopted a dog. Her name is Rusty, she's a Chinese Crested Powder Puff and she is the sweetest, mostly cuddly little dog ever. I've been begging Brad to get a dog for at least 2 years and he finally caved when my sister asked if we would take her dog since she's moving out of the country and couldn't take Rusty with her!

She is filling a serious void in my life on so many levels! Due to the fact that Brad and I suffer from never-seeing-each other-itis, Rusty is the perfect prescription. Just having another little living, breathing thing around makes it not quite so hard! Once we prove we can keep a small animal alive, maybe we'll consider trying for a small human. We'll see.

Isn't she fabulous?! I'm so happy to have her!

  1. I have to admit, when I saw the title my first thought was "Oh no! Now Ashley is abandoning the baby-less club!" Haha, after being married for 3+ years everyone is always expecting THE announcement. Chicken + Waffles is an amazing creation, white people should really get into it more. Did you got to Roscoes? CONGRATULATIONS! On becoming doggie parents. I'm so glad you're now a happy family of THREE.

  6. Just don't wait until you are 7 months along to share it with your favorite mother! (Like some other daughter did...whose name shall go unmentioned AKAYLEIA FREHNER!) But then again if having a dog like Rusty gets you a baby like Presley Boy, you are the luckiest couple in the world! Funny Stuff!
